Lo1/2 calculation steps Flashcards

1
Q

What are the steps to the drydocking solution?

A
  1. find AMD to get LCF.
  2. Find TMD and the use to get new displacement, MCTC and LCF.
  3. Calculate P
  4. Calculate effective displacement and use to find KM
  5. Find Loss of GM
  6. KM at critical instant- KG = Initial GM-Loss of GM = GM at critical instant.

(to obtain the draughts at that instant put the effective displacement into data sheet).

Q

What are the steps to the inclining experiment solution?

A
  1. GM = w x d x length/displacement x deflection.
  2. KG = KM-GM

(For KG at lightship create a moments table and subtract all unnecessary weight and add machinery).

Q

What are the steps to the Angle of heel when turning solution?

A
  1. Knots = (V x 1852)/3600 = m/s
  2. GM = KM-KG
  3. BG = KG-KB
  4. Tan0 = V2 x BG/g x R x GM

(For max speed skip part 1. and just rearrange tan equation).

Q

What are the steps to the Icing allowance solution?

A
  1. Deck volumes x 30m3 = KG then convert to tonnes.
  2. Calculate vertical surface by x 15 then converting KG to tonnes.
  3. Calculate the 10% allowance for the boom moments and 5% for the weights.
  4. Make a moments table to get new KG.
  5. GM = KM - KG

Q

What are the steps to the bilging compartment solution?

A
  1. Total loss of buoyancy = total buoyancy gained
  2. Loss x B x D = (L - Loss) x B x (X) to find X.
  3. Add X to depth to obtain draught.
  4. to find KM work out KB & BM (KG remains the same).
