What are some short-term effects of harm and abuse?

A
  • Injuries - such as bruises, cuts or broken bones
  • Unkempt - poor appearance, or looking thinner than usual
  • Challenging behaviour - may present as aggressive, difficult or withdrawn
  • STI - contracted through sexual abuse
  • Low self-esteem or confidence - self-doubt, angry, anxious or tearful
