What are the three branches?
Legislative, Executive and Judicial
Popular Sovereignty
The idea that power comes from the consent of the people
checks and balances
a system to keep the three branches in check to make sure there is no overreach happening

Natural Rights, Popular Sovereignty, Republicanism and Social contract

restrictions placed on the government to limit its reach of power & protect the natural rights of the people
What are the Natural Rights?
Life, Liberty and property
social contract
implicit agreements between citizens who are expected to comply with the rules of governmental authority in exchange for state protection.
Natural Rights
rights that every person is born with
Bill Of Rights
the first 10 Amendments to the Constitution. and guarantees civil rights and liberties to the individual like freedom of speech, press, and religion.
U.S Constitution
the basic principles and laws of a nation, state, or social group that determine the powers and duties of the government and guarantee certain rights to the people in it.
