Pathological tendency of liver =
A
STAGNATION (Excess build-up)
- Tightness/compressed energy of a drawn bowstring: “wiry” pulse and tendency for Liver Yang to rise violently upward (release of arrow)
- Militant tendency - frequently “invades” other organs

Key functions of healthy TCM LIVER (5):
A
- “Free courses” the Qi - smooth & even movement
- Governs the SINEWS - ensures motility
- Opens to the EYES
- STORES the Blood - “peaceful stockpiling of substance” =/= containment
- Governs Up-bearing (↑ Ascending motion of Eastern direction)

Liver YANG vs Liver YIN
A
- Liver YANG: The upbearing tendancy of Liver Qi (tends to become excess)
- Liver YIN: Blood, Essence and Yin from Kidney - “anchors” Liver Yang like a tether on a hot air balloon. (tends to become deficient)

Ascending Liver Yang (symptoms):
A
- Headaches
- Dizziness
- Anger / Irritability
- Red Eyes

Internal Wind / Liver Wind (general definition & symptoms)
A
Gentle breeze of qi flow blowing fiercely in severe liver patterns…. Produced form WITHIN the body causing:
* Chronic weak tremors (liver blood deficiency)
* Convulsions, seizures
* “Wind strike” - stroke (severe ascending Liver Yang)
