What do Albumin and total protein assess for?
Nutritional Status
( low albumin: not eating well or systemic issue)
AST and ALT reflect what?
Hepatocellular injury
Alkaline Phosphatase
Reflects cholestasis and infiltrative liver disease
Reflect bile but not specific to GI tract
(Can give indication if bile is draining well or not)
Total Bilirubin
Direct Bilirubin- Bile in pancrease
Indirect Bili- Bile bound in the blood
(Indicates bile duct issues)
Γ Glutamly Transpeptidase (GGT)
Helps differentiated the source of Alk Phos
(Increased GGT= bile duct injury or liver)

Tumor marker utilized in dx of HCC (not specific to HCC)
Elevated= concern for cancer somewhere
PT/INR
Coagulation issues (liver injury will affect this)
Lactic Dehydrogenase (LDH)
Indicates ischemic liver injury
Iron/ Ferretin
Hemoglobin synthesis
𝛼-1 antitrypsin
Specific form of liver injury
5’ nucleotides
Indicate parenchymal injury
