Complication of acute liver injury or chronic liver injury

What are some causes of acute liver failure?
A
Paracetamol
Hepatitis A, B±D, E (hepatitis C is a very rare cause of ALF)
Autoimmune hepatitis

When does liver failure most often occur?
A
Most often, liver failure occurs on a background of cirrhosis
Cirrhosis has many causes

What is the difference between acute and chronic liver failure?
A
ALF is loss of liver function that occurs rapidly whereas chronic liver failure is, for example, after years of cirrhosis -> leading to liver failure
