dust carried in the wind from the sahara desert
where is sand and silt distributed?
mid-latitudes of the continental shelf, at the mouth of rivers
where is ice rafted debris distributed?
high latitudes of the continental shelf near the poles
where is clay distibuted?
settles everywhere, diluted by other sediments (biogenic), not diluted in deep basins
