What are the consequences of Romeo’s killing of Tybalt?
Juliet is to be married to Paris almost immediately, but Romeo and Juliet cannot reveal their marriage, then Romeo is banished to Mantua.
Interpret this line by Benvolio from Act 3 Scene 1; lines 1 - 4: “I pray thee, good Mercutio, let’s retire. The day is hot, the Capulets abroad, and if we meet, we shall not scape a brawl, for now, these hot days, is the mad blood stirring.”
Benvolio is asking Mercutio if they can both go home, because the heat of the day will cause them to fight with the Capulets, if they were to meet.
When Tybalt discovers that Romeo has snuck into the party, why doesn’t Lord Capulet permit Tybalt to fight Romeo?
Lord Capulet wants to keep the peace of his party.
