what is an alliteration?
the repetition of two or more words starting with the same letter or sound.
what is a metaphor?
a comparison between two non-similar things. like “school is a prison” or “my room is a pigsty”
what is a simile?
A simile is a metaphor but when comparing the words you use “like or as”.
what is an example of a simile?
You’re as fat as a whale.
you smell like an ogre.
you look like a monkey.
What is imagery?
A description of something, somewhere, or someone. it creates a picture with words for the reader to imagine.
what is diction?
the choice of words made by author/writer and the arrangements of the words.
What is a hyperbole?
an exaggerated statement or a claim not meant to be taken literally.
What is onomatopoeia?
A word that is a sound effect or a word that would be said or heard like what it refers to.
