Q

note

A
  • There is no comma after the author’s name in an In-text citation.
  • There is a period after the parenthesis if the citation comes at the end of a sentence.
  • There is no punctuation inside the parentheses.
  • If there isn’t an author, use the next bit of information as indicated by the Works Cited entry on the last page of your writing, such as the title. (You can only provide the information that you know.)
  • In literary analysis, your Works Cited page will probably only list one source, since you are only analyzing one piece.
  • Citations must be made in the proper format. These formats change from time to time; be sure to research the current acceptable standard for your writing.

  • If we quote material in our literary analysis essay, we must cite that material in two ways:
  • In-text citation - a brief reference to the source of the material you are quoting or paraphrasing in your text
