9
Q

what is the properties in relation to its structure in a triglyceride

A
  • it hs a hight ration of c-h bonded to carbons meaning MORE ENERGY IS RELEASED THAN THE SAME MASS OF CARBOHYDRATES.
  • it is insoluble in water so it does not affect water potential

Q

what is the properties in relation to its structure in phospholipids

A
  • it forms a bilayer which is used for the DIFFUSION of small/non polar molecules
  • hydrophobic head- the phosphate attracts water NON POLAR
  • hydrophobic tail- repels polar molecules.
