Q

What is reverse motion linkage ?

A

Change the direction of input so that the output goes the opposite way

A fixed pivot changes the direction in movement

Often used in foldable clothes horses

Q

What are parallel or push/pull linkages ?

A

It uses to fixed pivots to make the input travel in the same direction through a link arm

Each pivot has a moving point either side so it can go backwards of forwards

Often used in tool boxes with open drawers

Q

What is bell crank linkage ?

A

Changes the direction of force through 90 degrees
Amount of output force can be changed by moving the fixed pivot

Often used in bicycle brakes, the rider can pull the brakes from the handle bards which changed the direction of the bell crank to make the brake pads touch the wheels
