Link Details Flashcards
1
Q
What are you saying about Skill Classification?
A
- The skill is open as its execution depends on environment, complex as a lot of judgements made, gross with large movements, externally paced.
2
Q
What are you saying about Bilateral transfer?
A
- He has a good hand off with both arms. Bilateral transfer has occurred from limb to limb as he has a good understanding of the cognitive aspects of the skill
3
Q
What are you going to say about arousal?
A
- Catastrophe theory says performance increases with arousal to a certain point then suddenly drops. Inverted U also says this but more gradual. Dom has high arousal and high performance, but controls this well to avoid these drops
4
Q
What are you going to say about aggression?
A
- Instinct theory says it is a natural response developed by evolution. Frustration aggression hypothesis says if there is an obstacle we will be aggressive to seek catharsis. However he controls this well and acts within the laws of the game
5
Q
What are you going to say about feedback?
A
- Accomplished athlete in the associative stage of learning. Gains intrinsic feedback with practice from proprioceptors. Can also gain extrinsic concurrent as he can cope with this, to develop the skill. Should be basic to avoid information overload
6
Q
What are you going to say about Bandura and Social Learning?
A
- Social Learning Theory uses demonstration, attention, retention, motor reproduction. Physical recreation could help Dom develop this skill
7
Q
What are you going to say about stability?
A
- Ability to resist motion, remain at rest, and withstand force returning to original position
- Mass, points of contact, base of support, centre of mass
8
Q
What are you going to say about centre of mass?
A
- The point at which all mass can be said to be evenly distributed. Bending knees for lower centre of mass means more stability, rather than bending at hips. This means it falls within base of support.
9
Q
What are you going to say about attitudes?
A
- Has good attitude towards training. Formed by experience, peer group, conditioning, social learning and familiarity. Trained from young age means high familiarity
- Triadic model: cognitive, effective, behavioural. All are positive.
10
Q
What are you going to say about motivation?
A
- Has high motivation because of external goals such as praise. Also persuasive communication, successful as persuader (coach) is of high status and popularity
11
Q
What are you going to say about team dynamics?
A
- Forming, storming, norming, performing have all taken place. Group is well established and has a common goal. Therefore the group is dynamic and communicates well
12
Q
What are you going to say about Ringlemann?
A
- Coordination errors increase with the number of people on the team. Rugby has many members, so the group formation process is even more important. High shared identity and group cohesion minimises coordination losses
13
Q
What are you going to say about anxiety?
A
- Somatic is physiological responses. Cognitive is nervousness. Dom has trait anxiety in important games. Lets external factors such as social involvement affect concentration
14
Q
What are you going to say about attentional field?
A
- If anxiety is high, the attentional field can be too wide. Sometimes takes in too many stimuli, meaning loss of concentration and small details aren’t picked up on
15
Q
What are you going to say about social loafing?
A
- Personal issue rather than because of team dynamics. Motivational loss due to relaxation. May be because of unnoticed performance as a better player
