What is phonetics?
Phonetics is the term for the description and classification of speech sounds, particularly how sounds are produced, transmitted and received.
What is phonology?
Phonology is the term used for the study of the speech sounds used in a particular language.
What is lexis?
Lexis is the complete set of all possible words in a language e.g. English lexis, or a particular subset of words that are grouped by some specific linguistic criteria e.g. religious lexis.
What is semantics?
Semantics is the branch of linguistics concerned with meaning.
What is grammar?
Grammar is a system of language rules that allows you to combine individual words to make complex meanings.
What is syntax?
Syntax is the arrangement of words and phrases to create well-formed sentences in a language.
What is morphology?
Morphology is the study of words, how they are formed, and their relationship to other words in the same language.
