Lines 1-10 Flashcards
Druides rebus divinis intersecunt, sacrifica publica ac privata procurant, religiones interpretantur: ad hos magnus numerus adulescentium discendi causa concurrit, magnoque hi sunt apud eos honore.
The Druids are concerned with divine matters, they attend to public and private sacrifices and explain religious questions. A great number of young men flocks to them to learn and these Druids are held in great respect among them.
For they make the decisions on almost all public and private matters, and, if any crime has been committed, if a murder has happened, if there is a dispute about an inheritance or territory, the Druids settle the matter and decide upon the rewards and punishments.
If anyone, either an individual or a whole tribe, does not abide by their decision, they ban them from the sacrifices: this is a most serious punishment to them.
