Q

What is the idea behind the “old” kilogram

A

The idea is that mass changes overtime (i.e. the iron rod oxidizing overtime or picking up dust particles to make it heavier)

Q

The “New Kilogram”

-What was the date?

A
  • May 20, 2019
  • The new definition is based on the SI constants
  • It is defined by taking the fixed numerical value of the Planck constant h to be 6.62607015x10^-34 expressed in unit Jxs which is equal to kgxm^2/s where the metre and second are defined in terms of c and change in vCs
