Linear Kinetics Flashcards
What is Kinetics?
The study of motion with the inclusion of mass, force, and energy as they affect motion.
What three things do kinetics include?
Mass, force, energy
What is mass?
How much matter we are made of.
What is inertia?
Resistance to a change in state of motion.
What is force?
Simply defined as a push or pull
What do mechanical relationships depend on?
Mass
What is mass a measure of?
Matter
What is matter?
The substance of which physical objects are composed.
T/F Without matter there is no physical interactions
True
T/F Mass can be thought of of how many tiny bits of matter you are made of
True
T/F Our weight is the force of gravity acting on our mass
True
T/F Because you are weightless doesn’t mean you are massless.
True
What is the idea behind the “old” kilogram
The idea is that mass changes overtime (i.e. the iron rod oxidizing overtime or picking up dust particles to make it heavier)
The “New Kilogram”
-What was the date?
- May 20, 2019
- The new definition is based on the SI constants
- It is defined by taking the fixed numerical value of the Planck constant h to be 6.62607015x10^-34 expressed in unit Jxs which is equal to kgxm^2/s where the metre and second are defined in terms of c and change in vCs
