what did the arrival of the bishop of lincoln’s officer cause?
paranoia ammongst the town, armed men guarded the church all night - they showed their anger about the disolution of the monasteries by marching to a nunery and capturing a commisoner there to dissolve it.

that the mens weapons would be seized.

3000 people met together at Louth and the governemnt comissoners were forced to flee.

angry mob seized Dr. Raynes the chancellor of the bishop of Lincoln and was killed.

that their grievances were aimed at the “low birth” and “evil councillors” which was crammer and cromwell.
what support did the Lincolnshire rising receive?
the support was a cross-section of society. it began with ordinary people like the initial starter, shoemaker, Nicholas Melton. it grew and monks from the dissolved Abbey as well as the parish clergy joined. - members of the local Gentry also joined.
what was the reason behind the Local Gentry joining?
their reasons are contradictory. although they were resentful against the act of uses, it wasn’t enough to risk their lives.

Duke of Suffolk wrote to the king suggesting they only joined in order to control the rebellion and preventing it from getting out of hand.
