What does each apex of each lung reach?
thoracic inlet (above clavicle)
where does the base of each lung sit?
on the diaphragm
What separates the lobes of each lung?
deep fissures
Which lung is larger?
right lung
leaves cardiac depression
What allows for passage of vessels and bronchi of each lung?
hilus
What are the lungs surrounded by?
plueral cavity
allows for movement of the lung
What are the fissure found on each lung?
oblique fissures
separate the superior and inferior lobes
What fissure is found only on the right lung?
horizontal fissure
separates superior inferior and middle lobes
Why doesn’t the left lung have a middle lobe?
its been reduced to compensate for the heart
Where is the horizontal fissure of the right lung found?
follows rib 4
Where are the oblique fissure of the right lung found?
laterally at rib 4 follows medially to rib 6 at midclavicular line
Where does the base of the right lung sit?
anteriorly rib 6 (midclavicular line)
Where can the base of the right pleural cavity can be found?
anteriorly at rib 8 (midclavicular line)
Where is the cardiac notch found?
at costal cartilage four and arches over not quite to midclavicular line
What is the base of lung left lung?
rib 6 anteriorly at midclavicular line
