How are lights configured when:
Aircraft is powered
Navigation/Position Lights illuminated continously
- Nav light - 1
- Strobe light & Logo light - Auto
How are lights configured when:
Engines running/aircraft moving
Anti-collision light (beacon) illuminated immediately prior to aircraft movement or engine start, whichever occurs first.
- Beacon light - ON ( brakes released for pushback)
How are lights configured when:
Taxiing
Taxi light illuminated when moving or intending to move
- Nose light - Taxi
How are lights configured when:
Crossing a runway
All exterior lights illuminated
Note: avoid using Land and Nose(TO) and Strobe lights if they will adversely affect the vision of other pilots.
- Nose light - TO
- LDG light - ON
- Wing light - ON
- Strob light - ON
How are lights configured when:
Line up and wait
All exterior lights illuminated except the landing lights. Note: Avoid using Strobe lights if they will adversely affect the vision of other pilots
- Nose light - Taxi
- Wing light - ON
- Strobe light - ON
How are lights configured when:
Takeoff
All exterior lights illuminated
- Nose light - TO
- LDG light - ON
How are lights configured when:
In flight (above 18000 ft)
Exterior lights extinguished, except the ant-collision (beacon), navigation/position, and strobe lights
Nose light - OFF
LDG light - OFF
WING light - OFF
STROBE light - AUTO
How are lights configured when:
In flight (below 18000 ft)
Navigation/Position lights illuminated continuously. Note: The NOSE light and RWY TURN OFF light may remain OFF until landing clearance has been received.
- Nose light - TO
- LDG light - ON
- WING light - ON
Emergency lights usage
Emergency lights must be armed for taxi, takeoff, and landing. They are not required to be armed during either the boarding or deplaning process.
