Produces a high intensity light that covers the whole stage
What does a fresnel do
Creates a soft edged beam or a general wash
What does a profile spot light do
Highlights a single performer, creates a hard edged beam of light. Normally the lantern you would put a gobo in
What does a parcan do
Distributes a harsh and intense beam of light, commonly used for a general wash
What does intensity of the light mean
How bright or dim the light is, can give audiance information such as time of day
What is a gobo
Metal stencil placed inside a profile lantern, creates a pattern on stage to establish location or time of day

Front light, back light, side light, down light, foot light
What is a cyclorama
The screen at the back of the stage the general wash is projected onto
