Light Independant Reaction Flashcards
1
Q
Where does the LIR occur?
A
In the stroma
2
Q
Stage 1- carbon fixation/carboxylation
A
RuBP (5 carbon) and CO2 (1 carbon) join, creating a 6 carbon molecule, catalysed by the reaction Rubisco
3
Q
stage 2
A
then the 6 carbon molecule forms 2 GP molecules (3 carbons each)
4
Q
stage 3
A
the 2 GP are reduced into 2 TP, using ATP for the energy and NADPH to provide hydrogen
5
Q
stage 4
A
some TP (1/6) is used to make glucose but cycle needs to happen 6x for 1 molecule of glucose to be made.
the rest of the TP (5/6) are used to regenerate RuBP
