Light Cured Gels Flashcards
The main ingredients used alone or in combination with urethane acrylates to create light cured gel enhancements
Urethane Acrylate and urethane methacrylate
Initiates the polymerization reaction
A photoinitiator
What does cure mean?
To harden
The measurement of the thickness or thinness of a liquid and that affects how the fluid flows
Viscosity
Bonding gels
Used the increase adhesion to the natural nail plate, similar to a monomer liquid and polymer powder primer
Building Gels
Any thick-viscosity resin that allows the cosmetologist to build an arch and curve in the fingernail
-can be used with self-leveling gels
Self leveling gels
Thinner in consistency than building gels, allowing them to settle and level during application
-enhances thickness of the overlay
Pigmented gels
Can be building gels or self leveling gels that include color pigment
A very thin viscosity gel that is usually pigmented and packaged in a pot or a bottle; an alternative to traditional nail lacquers
Gel polish
“Sealing gel” or “finishing gel” or “shine gel”; used over the finished and filed gel application to create a high shine
Glossing gel
Inhibition layer
A tacky surface left on the nail after a UV or LED gel has cured
LED lamps
Cure gel about 4x faster than UV lamps
Lamp wattage
The measure of how much electricity the bulb consumes
How many times per year should UV bulbs be changed?
2-3 times per year
Hard UV and LED gels
“Traditional gels,” cannot be removed with a solvent such as acetone
