Light Flashcards
What is the law of reflection?
i=r
Angle of incidence = angle of reflection
What is refraction?
Refraction is the bending of light as it enters a different material.
How is refraction caused?
Refraction is cause by the light changing speed
As it goes through a different densities of material
What is diffraction?
Diffraction is the bending of waves around an obstacle or through a gap.
Long sightedness meaning?
The person can see distant objects clearly but they cannot ot focus on near objects.
Short sightedness meaning?
The person can see near objects clearly, but cannot do us on distant objects.
What are transverse waves?
Waves where particles move up and down but the wave travels at 90° to the particle movement.
Examples of transverse waves
- radio
- water
- x- Ray’s
- light
What are longitudinal waves?
Waves where particles move in the same direction as the wave energy direction.
Example of a longitudinal wave
- sound
