ligaments of the knee Flashcards
ACL
Anterior Cruciate Ligament
- Anterior intercondylar area of tibia
- Posteromedial aspect of lateral condyle of femur
ACL, attaches to the anterior tibia, To prevent anterior translation of the tibia
PCL
Posterior Cruciate Ligament
- Posterior intercondylar area of tibia
Lateral aspect of media condyle of femur
PCL, attaches to the posterior tibia, to prevent posterior translation of the tibia
MCL
Medial Collateral Ligament (MCL)
- Medial Femoral epicondyle
- Medial aspect of proximal tibia
Prevent movement = stability
Resists vagus force (lateral to medial force)
LCL
lateral Colatteral ligament (LCL)
-lateral femoral epicondyle
- head of fibula
prevents varus forces (med to lateral)
