Ligaments of The Knee Flashcards
Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL)
Posterior tibia to anterior fibia femur fixed all will resist anterior movement of tibia, Tibia fixed all will resist posterior movement of femur ACL and PCL provide stability on saggital plane
Posterior Cruciate Ligament (PCL)
Runs anterior fibula to posterior tibia, Femur fixed will resist posterior movement tibia fixed resist anterior movement of femur is stronger than acl commonly torn in car accident
Medial Collateral Ligament (MCL)
Located on inside of knee resists valgus forces MCL and LCL provide stability on frontal plane
Lateral Collateral Ligament (LCL)
Resist against varus forces is strong ligament located on outside part of knee
If Tibia is fixed and femur moves anterior what ligament might tear
PCL
If tibia is fixed and femur moves posterior what ligament might tear ACL
ACL
What Ligament Resists Valgus Forces
MCL
What Ligament resists Varus Forces
LCL
