Lift (Chapter 6) Flashcards
AoA - increase
Coefficient of Climb - increase
Thickness of aerofoil. As the thickness of the aerofoil increases, so does the coefficient of lift as well as the angle of attack, before it can stall (Critical angle)
AoA - Constant
Coefficient of Climb - Increase
Camber of an aerofoil. As the camber is increased in a positive manner, the coefficient of lift is increased but the critical angle remains the same.
AoA - Decreases
Coefficient of Lift - Increase
This is the addition of a trailing flap. The increase in the camber creates a larger coefficient of lift but a smaller critical angle
Point of stall also known as…(instead of AoA)
Critical angle
Coefficient of lift…
Is a dimensionless number which shows how natural an aerofoil is at being able to produce lift.
Cambered aerofoil producing a greater AoA and a greater coefficient of lift
Low speed aerofoil
An aerofoil producing a smaller AoA and smaller coefficient of lift…
High speed aerofoil
