What are the 4 learning styles
Activist - those people who learn by doing.
Theorist - like to understand the theory behind the actions.
Pragmatist - need to be able to see how to put the learning into practice in the real world.
Reflector - learn by observing and thinking about what happened.
Why continue learning
Improve patient care, refresh knowledge, maintain skills, re-certify, FPA requirements, advance career.
How to learn
Read, attend lectures, case reviews, audits, teaching others, feedback from patients/ colleagues.
Whats in a portfolio
A record of learning events- a learning log
- Educational events
- Case reviews
- SEAs
- Audit
- Complaints and compliments received
- Critical Reading / personal study
- Teaching undertaken
- Feedback from colleagues and patients
- Reflection on each, on what we learned and it’s application to our
