Adaptation
An organism that gets energy by eating other organisms.
Producer
An organism that uses sunlight to make its own food for energy.
Consumer
An animal that gets energy by only eating other animals.
Carnivore
An animal that gets energy by only eating plants.
Herbivore
An animal that gets energy by eating both plants and animals.
Omnivore
A long-term relationship between two different kinds of organisms where one or both receive benefits.
Symbiotic
An organism that gets energy by using dead organisms, nonliving materials, or waste as food.
Decomposer
The path of food energy from one organism to another in an ecosystem.
Food Chain
A connection of food chains with many food energy paths in an ecosystem.
Food Web
An organism that hunts and feeds on other organisms.
