What is Movement ?
A change in the position of an entire organism or parts of an organism
What is the importance of Movement ?
It is important in Growth, Reproduction, Protection from unfavourable conditions and predators & Feeding
What is Respiration ?
The breakdown of food to release energy
What is the importance of Respiration ?
Provides energy to carry out the life processes
What is Sensitivity ?
The ability to detect & respond to changes in the internal or external environment
What is the importance of Sensitivity ?
It is important for Reproduction, to maintain internal environment, for protection & for feeding
What is Growth ?
Permanent increase in size & complexity of an organism
What is the importance of Growth ?
To reach maturity so that the organism can carry out all of the life processes
What is Reproduction ?
The ability of organisms to make new organisms of the same kind as themselves
What is the importance of Reproduction ?
To carry on Species
What are the Two kinds of Reproduction ?
Asexual & Sexual Reproduction
What is Asexual Reproduction ?
Where ONE individual in involved & there is no exchange of gametes
e.g.s. ~ potato budding into another plant & banana sucker
What is Sexual Reproduction ?
Where TWO individuals are involved & there are an exchange or gametes
