What is the ABCD of goal setting
Goals must be achievable, believable, conceivable, and desirable
What are the 6 steps to selecting goals?
- Goals must include others
- Goals must be worthwhile
- Goals must be clear
- Goals must be measurable
- Goals must be expandable, not expendable
- Goals must be filled with conviction
What is the SMART way of goal setting?
Specific- are they clearly stated, eg, what/when/where?
Measurable- how will you know when you achieved the goals?
Attainable- is it possible for you to achieve the goals?
Realistic- is it probable or likely that you will achieve the goals?
Timebound- by when will the goals be achieved?
What are the four characteristics of the ‘Specific’ aspect in SMART?
Goals are personal

What are the two characteristics of the ‘Measurable’ aspect in SMART?
Goals are meant to be progressive
Analyse your current position in relation to what you want to achieve
What are the two characteristics of the ‘Attainable’ aspect in SMART
Must be a goal that can be accomplished and is within your abilities and control
Must be personally owned and not imposed by others
What are the three characteristics of the ‘Timebound’ aspect in SMART
Set a date by which each goal will be achieved
Establish a time frame to complete each of the actions that you will perform to achieve your goals
The use of timelines gives a sensation of control and promotes commitment and helps you pace your efforts

- Define the problem- give the problem a name, you ned to be completeLy clear as to what the problem is
- Brainstorm- never make a snap decision. Explore different perspectives and solution’s
- Predict- consider the consequences, and use SWOT
- Research- consider different solutions by getting accurate information
- Make- commit 100% and don’ t let decisions stack up. Believe
- Evaluate- weigh pros and cons in consequences
What kind of people help with decisions
People who are experienced and should know
Those who don’t know and yet continue to give advice
Those who may or may not know but have an ulterior motive
