Before a bay park
- Position the car on the opposite side of the road, to give the maximum room for the manoeuvre
- check mirror on the side that you are turning into
- signal
When reversing out of a bay
- check all around
- reverse out
- check all around again
- drive away
Choose a bay that has
- space either side
- space on your right
Reference point for bay parking forwards
When the line of the bay beforehand is halfway across the car?
Before a roundabout
- check the road for signs and markings indicating a lane change
- always be staggered against the cars next to you, in case they change lanes
Pease pottage roundabout
- get into the right lane if turning right (mirrors, signal)
- check to the right before entering to check the drivers have stopped at their red light
check to the left when entering in case someone is changing lanes - middle lane for pease pottage services (servs)
- when exiting, check middle and left mirrors, signal left, and get into the left lane
- stay slow, there is another roundabout coming up!
The second pease pottage roundabout
- to get to services, middle lane on approach
- left lane through roundabout
- on exiting, check middle and right mirror for traffic overtaking
On multi-lane roundabouts, the right lane is for
- 3rd exits and overtaking
- stick to the left or middle lanes if you’re not taking the final exit
Between red lights on a roundabout
check middle mirror to check the car behind is responding to your braking
On a roundabout, if you want to follow the road ahead
- stick to left lane unless road signs or markings tell you otherwise
How to check what the tyre pressure should be
- manual
- check the inside of the drivers side door
- pressure gauge
How to check if the foot brake is working
- press the foot brake
- check for resistance
- don’t want it to be spongy or slack
- budge the car forward and engage the brake
