  • did not wear make up , was blond and heavy hipped , did not smoke and work , did all house chores and raise children
  • Nazi germany worked hard to raise the birth rate because birth rates had dropped to under 1millon in 1933 . Jewish people were allowed abortions but non Jewish were not
  • propaganda was launched to promote motherhood and large families . Loans were given to young couples so they could marry , so long as the wife left her job .

  • on hitlers mothers birthday medals were awarded to women with large families , bronze for 5 children, silver for 6 children , gold for 8 children

-nazis set up lebensbraun where specifically chosen women could Donate a baby to the furher by becoming pregnant by ‘racially pure’ men

-instead of work women were asked to follow the 3 k’s kinder , kuche , kirche which translates to children kitchen and church

  • teachers were forced to join nazi teachers league teacher were forced to promote Nazi ideas

Lessons began with the ‘heil Hitler’ chant and children were made to believe that Germany was surrounded by hostile neighbours and communism is evil

  • children were toaght about the Nazi iPad to the aryan race and how they were superior. They were taught not to marry inferior races like Jewish people

Policies to reduce unemployment

A

-reich labour service: scheme to provide young men with manual labour jobs . Form 1935 it was compulsory for all men aged 18-35 to serve for 6 months

  • they introduced a road building programme that built 3000 km of autobahns (motorways) more that 125,000 men were involved in the construction.

-heavy industry expanded the need for coal and steel doubled

-billions was spent on producing aircraft , tanks , ships . In 1933 3.5 Billion was spent that increased to 26 billion in 1939

-to win workers over Nazi govronment created volksgemeinshaft (peoples community )

-strength through joy (Kraft Durch Fruede- KDF) set up by the German labour front by sponsoring leisure activities . Low cost

-Hitler wanted pure German state , treated all no German (especially Jewish people) as inferior Called untermenschen (subhuman)

-Hitler believed that aryans would be the volksgemeinschaft(peoples community ) and the herrenvolk (master race)

  • Hitlers ideal German was blond tall athletic and blue eyed . Hitler banned mixed marriages
  • the ss were mostly blue eyed and blonde men who were lean and they were only allowed to marry women of aryan blood

  • April 1933 as soon as Hitler became chancellor he persuaded the Germans to boycott Jewish store an and businesses .
  • the boycott began on the 1st of April and SA members stood in front of Jewish stores discouraging others to go inside it only lasted a day

Nuremburg laws 1935

  • on September 5th 1935 the Nazi government passed 2 racial laws Reich citizenship law and the law to protect German blood and honour
  • the Reich citizenship law stated that only those of German blood could be German . Jewish people lost their citizenship

-law to protect German blood and honour forbid marriage between Jewish and German citizens. German citizens were encouraged to divorce their Jewish partners

Kristallnacht (night of broken glass )

  • on November 8th a young polish Jewish man Herschel grynzpann walked into the German embassy and shot the first official the saw . He was protesting the treatment of Jewish people

-gobbles used this as an excuse to fuel the violence against Jewish people and 100 Jewish people were killed and 20,000 were sent to a concentration camp . 191 synagogues were destroyed , 815 Jewish businesses were destroyed

  • people with disabilities: Nazis stated that any once with a mental of physical illness was to be sterilised

-homosexuals : were seen as a distribution to the ideal family unit therefore were sent to concentration camps

-travellers & Roma : they were seen as threatening racial purity and accused them of being work shy . They had to register with authorities
