What is some pull factors for immigrants to go to America?
America has a vast ammount of cheap fertile land for farming.
Why were immigrants put through many inspections and tests?
To make sure they didnt let any unnecesary immigrants in also preventing the spread of diseases.
Why was ellis island nicknamed the island of tears?
Because of the ammount of people that spent alot of money and time trying to get to America just to get turned away.
Who did americans dislike during WW1?
German people - They had their own societies and lived in remote areas.
Who did Americans dislike after WW1?
Southern and Eastern immigrants - Accused them of stealing jobs and dont want to mix different “types” of people.

Two italian Anarchists used as scapegoats.

Scared white politicians, Jim crow laws.
What were the jim crow laws?
Legalised seggregation and kept african americans inferior to white people.
What was some social customs pushed on black people in the 1920’s?
- Enter a white persons house by the back door.
- Not directly look them in the eye.
- Not speak unless spoken to.
What did southern states have to prevent black people from voting?
Tests.
What was the harlem renaissance?
Black people composed and performed music.

National association for the advancement of coloured people.
