What happens on judgement day in Christianity?
God decides who will be rewarded with eternal life and who will go to hell.
What do Christians believe heaven is?
To be in God’s presence after death, experiencing peace and contentment.
What are dualists?
Believe that after death the body will decay whilst the soul will rise to everlasting life in heaven. Body and soul is separate.
What are non dualists ?
Body and soul are ‘one’ and cannot be separated. After death body and soul are temporarily apart. On judgement day, body and soul are reunited and rise to heaven as a physical being.
What does the Catholic Church teach that others don’t?
Purgatory, where some people who have sinned are purified in a ‘cleansing fire’
Name a Buddhist teaching that explains their views on life after death.
Samsara, the endless cycle of life, death and re-birth.
Do Buddhists believe in a soul?
No, there is no soul (anatta). Nothing is permanent (Anicca).
How does Karma affect rebirth?
Skilful actions will result in positive rebirth. Unskilful actions result in bad consequences such as less favourable rebirth
What do catholics do before dying?
Before death Catholics seek forgiveness and prayers are said for the dying, this enables them to die in peace. Candles are often lit (Jesus – light of the world.)
What are the different Rehlms of samsara?
There are Six Realms in Samara: -Humans, Animals, Hungry Ghosts, Tormented State, Heavenly beings and Gods at War.
