Lidocaine, Amiodarone, Atropine, Adenosine Flashcards
Lidocaine classification
Ventricular antidisrhythmic
Lidocaine trade name
Xylocane
Lidocaine desired effect
Suppress ventricular ectopy,
raise v-fib threshold,
local anesthetic
Lidocaine mechanism of action
Decrease automaticity and refractory period in cardiac arrest
Lidocaine indications
Pulseless VT, stable VT, MI with ventricular ectopy, v-fib
Lidocaine contraindications
Allergic to amide anesthetic
Ventricular escape rhythm
2nd and 3nd AV blocks
Sinus arrest
Lidocaine adverse reactions
Seizure
Coma
Respiratory arrest
Hypotension
Lidocaine adult dosing
Cardiac arrest
1 - 1.5 mg/kg IV/IO
0.5-0.75 mg/kg IV/IO
Max 3 mg/kg
Lidocaine pediatric dosing
Cardiac arrest
1 mg/kg IV /IO
Amiodarone trade name
Cordarone
Amiodarone class
Antidisrhythmic
Amiodarone desired effects
Treat SVT and ventricular dysrhythmias
Amiodarone mechanism of action
Works on a myocardium to delay repolarization and depresses automaticity in the AV / SA node
Amiodarone indications
V-fib, pVT, wide complex tachycardia
Amiodarone contraindications
hypersensitivity,
2nd/3rd degree heart block,
Bradycardia
cardiogenic shock
Amiodarone adverse reactions
Hypotension, arrhythmia, heart block, sinus arrest
Amiodarone drug interactions
Increases digoxin levels and toxicity of lidocaine
Amiodarone dosing adult
V-fib/pVT
300 mg diluted in 20 to 30cc IVP
150 mg diluted in 20 to 30 cc IVP
