How does the Lidar work
Emits 200 pulses every second
Time starts as the pulse leaves
Stops when it is reflected back
Based on known speed of light the pro laser calculates range
After approximately 70 readings the pro laser will display a speed
Takes approximately 1/3 of a second
Speed of light travels at 300 million meters per second
Time take for a single pulse of light to travel to an object will always be the same unless the object moves
Single pulse tells you the range, multiple pulses tell you the speed
Pro laser 4 has two functions
Speed & Range
Adjusting the rear display brightness
By pressing the power button
Adjusting the HUD brightness
Pressing the poor weather button adjust the hud brightness
Poor weather feature
Improves sensitivity and performance in adverse weather conditions
Sets minimum range to 60m
( No speed or range readings are possible within 60m)
Pressing and holding the poor weather button I speed/range mode
Pressing the poor weather in menu
Sleep mode
If there is no activity detected for 2 minutes
After 15minutes of no activity unit shuts down completely
‘SLEEPING’ displayed in the display
Head up display (HUD) functions ?
Two critical functions
Provide aiming reticle the operator uses to aim the desired target
Display speed or range of the target as operator continues to observe target creating tracking history
Reticle approximately replicates the laser beam spot size
Internal testing of the Lidar
Pressing the power button if switched off or pressing and holding the check button 3 seconds
Internal Test Fail
Error message “HELP” in the HUD
Action- turn it off and on again
