Q

What is the difference between internal and external hordeola and what are they?

A
Both are abcesses or infection. Internal hordeola 'point' inwards towards the conjunctiva, they are caused by blockage of the meiboian glands.
External hordeola (stye) 'point' outwards and are typically in eyelash follicles. They are commonly caused by staph infections. They are caused by blockage of the glands of moll (sweat) and zeis (sebum)
