Lichtenberger & Kaufman Flashcards
What kind of test is the Weschsler Adult Intelligence Scale (WAIS-IV) Assessment?
A neurocognitive test
What does the WAIS-IV assess?
Neurocognitive abilities and psychological functioning
Specifically Intellectual abilities both perceptual and linguistic
Name the five composite scores or indexes the test yields
Verbal Comprehension Index Perceptual Reasoning Index Working Memory Index Processing Speed Index Full Scale IQ
The scores from the indexes are all added to a Clinical Cluster which consists of the following categories:
Verbal Fluid Reasoning Lexical Knowledge General Information Long-Term Memory Short-Term Memory Fluid Reasoning Visual Reasoning
What important information should be considered when choosing tests and subsequently reporting results and final conclusions in a report?
Who referred the client Specific symptons and concerns Current family situation Other symptons Medical history Developmental history educational history employment history Previous treatments Recent developments - Including stressors Review of past evaluations
Which information is important to be aware of when observing client behaviour?
Significant patterns or themes you see during testing.
What makes a particular client unique.
What behavioural aspects are relevant to the hypothesis.
Validity of the test on the basis of observed behaviours.
How is the report structured?
Give an outline
- Identifying Information
- Reason for Referral
- Background Information
- Appearance and Behavioral Observations
- Tests Administered
- Test Results and Interpretations
- Summary; Summary and Conclusions; Summary and Diagnostic Impression.
- Recommendations
- SIgnature
- Psychometric Summary of Scores
When interpreting the test, what should one never do?
Exclusively report the result of the test without tying it into observed behaviour and history of the client.
How do you report the test results?
Report the statistical results and never raw scores.
Statistical results includes: Standard scores, including IQs; Index scores, with confidence intervals; Percentile Ranks
Hvilken overspringshandling tror du Houborg lavede, mens han læste denne artikel?
Tømte skabet for vinglas og hældte vand i dem, så de ramte forskellige rene toner, for at spille på dem
When reporting the statistical results you must include a descriptive category of the percentile ranks.
What is the purpose of this category and what does it describe?
The purpose of this category is to describe whether or not the client falls within or without of the normal distribution.
It describes the strengths and weaknesses of a client within each particular index.
