how are amino acids absorbed into cells lining the ileum?
A
Facilitated diffusion, with the help of a carrier molecule in the surface membrane of epithelial cells. With each amino acid, one Na+ is also taken up. This is co transport because they are travelling together, like co-parenting. A diffusion gradient of Na+ is maintained by active transport.
