strengths of li 4
- there is different tests for the different ages more valid as represents child ability
- large sample of 1364 children more generalisable and representative OTOH all usa
- studies something naturally occuring more ethical as arent manipulating anything
- lots of research methods triangulation of data more valid results
weakness of li 4
- reductionist way of defining high/low daycare
- only looked at cognitive not social so not complete look at effects of daycare
- cant eliminate all evs in naturalistic setting
- only one observer when looking at quality so low inter-rater reliability
