What about 24 months?

A

At 18 months, a vocabulary of around 50 words, though it has been suggested that they KNOW around 250, just don’t use them.
At 24 months 200 words are actively used

What is underextension?

A

Semantic error where children use a narrower meaning for a word than in adult language. For example using the word ‘cat’ for the family cat and no other cats

What is overextension?

A

When a child gives a word a broader meaning that intended, for example using the word daddy for all men. When children have limited vocabulary, this happens frequently- and decreases as they learn more words to fill the gaps
