Levels Of Organisation Flashcards
Organelles
Organelles a tiny structures within cell. You can only see them using a powerful microscope.
Nucleus
And organelle which contains the genetic material that controls the cells activities. It is surrounded by its own membrane
Cell membrane
This membrane forms the outer surface of the cell and controls the substances that go in and out
Cytoplasm
Gel like substance where most of the cells chemical reactions happens. It contains enzymes which control these reactions.
Chloroplasts
Photosynthesis which makes food for the plant happens here. Chloroplasts contain a green substance called chlorophyll which is used in photosynthesis.
Cell wall
I rigid structure made of cellulose which surrounds the cell membrane. It supports the cell and strengthens it.
Vacuole
I large organelle that contains cell sap(A weak solution of sugar and salt).it helps to support the cell
Cells contain……..
Organelles
Cells are ………
Specialised
Cells are specialised
Most cells are specialised to carry out a particular function so their structures can vary.
For example in humans red blood cells are specialised for carrying oxygen and white blood cells are specialised for defending the body against disease.
Tissues
A tissue is a group of similar cells that work together to carry out a particular function. Atish you can contain more than one type of cell.
Tissues are organised into
Organs
Organs
And organ is a group of different tissues that work together to perform a function. Lungs in mammals and leaves on plants are two examples of organs they are both made up of several different tissue-types.
Organs make up
Organ systems
Organs
Organs work together together to form organ systems. Each system does a different job. For example, in mammals, the digestive system is made up of organs including the stomach, intestines, pancreas and liver.
