LEVELS OF ORGANISATION Flashcards
Cells
Building blocks of all living organisms
Tissues
Made up of many specialised cells of the same type, working together to carry out a particular function
Organs
Made up of many different tissues, working together to carry out a particular function
System
Made up of many different organs, working together to carry out a particular function
Systems in human body
Muscular system
Respiratory system
Nervous System
Urinary system
Skeletal System
Digestive system
Reproductive System
Endocrine system
Lymphatic system
(MR. NUSDREL)
Respiratory system
Where gas exchange takes place
How do we breathe?
Nose
Lungs
Chest
Main organs in the respiratory system
Nose: Pathway for air
Trachea: Main airway connecting air into lungs
Lungs: Where gas exchange takes place
Digestive system
Where food breaks down into nutrients
Main organs in the digestive system
Mouth
Stomach
Small intestines
Large intestines
Urinary system
Removes waste product and toxic materials
How we remove urine
- The kidney filters waste product from the blood and form urine.
- The ureter transports the urine from the kidneys to the bladder.
- The bladder stores urine.
- The urethra removes urine from our bladder out of our body.
Nervous system
Helps parts of the body to communicate with each other
Main organs in the nervous system
Brain
Spinal cord
Nerves
Circulatory system
Pumps blood throughout the body - so parts of our body can get oxygen and nutrients and helps to remove waste product
