A
- Involves simply counting the number of subjects that did one thing or another, or fall into this category or that
- Numbers here refer to frequency with which something occurs
- Only use MODE

A
- Items may be placed in some rank order
- Represent positions within a group- they tell us which is first, second and third
- Appropiate to use MEDIAN and RANGE

A
- Uses equal intervals
- Highest level of data
- Have a unit- m, mm, IQ
- Measures of dispersion- standard deviation
