nominal data

no attempt to analyse in groups, but analysis is made through individuals scores
interval data and ratio data

can go into the negatives whereas ratio data has a zero point

come from asking open ended questions which cannot be quantified when analysed

collecting data directly by the original researcher of the study

data already used in different research, and taken from that research to analyse information which already exists
