What is the purpose of a CBC (Complete Blood Count)?
To identify and quantify the different components of a whole blood sample, RBC, WBC, and PLT.
What is the purpose of a Chemistry Panel?
To evaluate various internal organs functionality, pancreas, kidneys, liver.
What are the (3) three primary test components of a Urinalysis?
Dip stick, sediment, and specific gravity.
What is the purpose of a Urinalysis?
To evaluate the urine for bacteria, crystals, RBC/WBC, glucose, ketones and proteins.
What does PCV/TS stand for and what is it used for?
Packed Cell Volume/Total Solids. It measures the % of red blood cells and protein levels of the blood.
What is a fecal flotation used for?
Screening and identifying intestinal parasites.
What is Parvovirus?
A viral infection of the GI tract that commonly effects puppies under (1) one year of age that are partially or completely unvaccinated. It is transmitted via vomit or fecal matter of an infected canine.
What is Giardia?
A protozoan bacteria found in water, soil or infected fecal matter that causes GI signs in canines/felines of any age.
What is Lactate level and what is a normal value?
A lactate level is the measure of lactic acid in the blood. It can aide in the assessment of proper perfusion (circulation). Normal = 2.0 or less.

Blood glucose measure the amount of glucose in the blood.
