- member of phylum is commonly known as sponges.
- they’re marine and asymmetrical animals.
- have water transport/canal system.
-water enters through Ostia, water goes out through the osculum. body wall into a central cavity spongocoel. - pathway of water transport that is helpful in food gathering, respiratory exchange, and removal of waste.

ii) the body is supported by a skeleton made up of spicules or spongin fibers

asexually by fragmentation
sexually by the formation of gametes.
fertilization is internal, development is indirectly having a larval stage that is morphologically distinct from the adult.
