Tell me about the acquisition?
I went to Plymouth twice for a viewing tour with my client
They were searching for 1,500 sq ft of office space, either serviced or conventional
Viewed options in the city and out of town
Second time was to view a considered option again to confirm
Took space in a small conventional office in city centre
What was your desktop risk assessment?
Locality - parking, road closures, travel
Any evidence of flooding
Any building construction going on on site
What is a risk assessment? 6 processes
- identify hazards
- Identify people at risk from hazard
- evaluate risk - likelihood and severity
- Record finding
- review regularly
- Advise all those affected
Explain risk vs hazard?
Risk - probability / likelihood someone will be harmed
Hazard - anything that has potential to cause harm
What Preparations did you make?
Office viewing in city so low risk
Ensured car had petrol and tyres correct
Ensured i had essentials for trip - 5 hours round trip
Ensured i had relevant contact detials
Ensured i had property addresses and schedule of viewings
What is your companies H&S policy?
In line with H&S at work 1974
Why and how did you inform colleagues?
To ensure my whereabouts was known incase of an emergency
I informed via text message
What is C&W lone working policy?
Avoid lone working where possible
Check location for any known hazards, any PPE
Check is specific site instructions
Tell colleagues
ensure charged mobile phone
How did you ensure the safe person concept here?
I had a duty of care for my clients when on the viewing tour
I provided a clear schedule, exchanged contact details and ensured they were safe
