I used the standards set out in NRM 1 to identify each group element and separated them out into an excel document of individual elements in accordance with the architectural and M&E design.

Defined is known and where the design of the provisional sum is reasonable identifiable within the specifications for example the requirement for a new kitchen from Howdens.

Undefined is unknown at the time of tender to the amount of works required for example asbestos removals following a survey undertaken on site.

Would you include the cost of prelims over xmas.

Answer 4

Should show in prelims in tender return as calc 28 weeks charge instead of 30 weeks , should have factored into the scaffold price to be there over xmas. Should have been agreed up front. Hire charge can usually decant before xmas but up to the supplier to pick it up.

What are dayworks and where did you include them in your sun hill rood replacement elemental schedule of works?

Included in preliminaries. Dayworks are a set of percentages which can be used when no other tendered rates can be used when quantifying works.
