Letter 16-19 Flashcards
Letter 16
To Atticus - Austra, 15 May 45BC
Decides to go from Lanuvium to Tusculum (still grieving for Tullia who died in Tusculum in Feb 45BC)
Feels that his books made him weaker (an educated man is not insensitive or impervious enough)
Asks if Atticus would visit (but much less demanding than in other letters)
Letter 17
To Atticus - Tusculum, 7/8 August 45BC
Brutus shouldn’t ally himself with Caesar
Caesar will only be allies with the optimates if he kills himself (i.e. meets them in the underworld) = making fun
Quintus (Cicero’s young nephew is in trouble) - Cicero’s brother has gone to meet the boy and tell him off
